I stop and listen and look at the teacher. I put my things down.

I was having two sausages at school and they were good.
I went to the snowy mountains.

We are in A4. I am with my best buddy who is Nathan. It is fun. We are on the computers. We played this game which is the frog game.

A busy week...

We have had an extremely busy yet fun week at school.

Our Inquiry focus has moved to learning about being Firewise. The children enjoyed a visit from Xavier's Dad and other local firefighters yesterday. Next week we will visit the station and check out the trucks. Talk with your child about what they might see and discuss any questions they might have.

During Literacy time this week we have covered, our Inquiry topic, Firewise, Matariki (Maori New Year) and encouraged our children to write lots and lots of words!
See our pictures below!

Finally, thanks to those who have taken the time to comment on our blog. We love sharing these with the children.
Alice's writing.
Faith writing lots of words.
Scarlett's fire truck.
Max and Waka. Is a candle a tool or a toy?
The children sitting outside in the sun waiting for the fire engine to leave.
The big fire engine!
Our amazing cluster of Matariki stars. Lots of perseverance and effort went into making these.

Writing

This week we did so much independent writing. Sometimes we just wrote a story, sometimes we wrote words to explain our pictures and sometimes we just practised writing over, and over again. We felt very proud when our audience could read our writing but it was very special to read our own writing too.

We were learning about prepositions so we drew a picture to explain the word.

Nathan wrote this so everyone in our rooms could read it.

Scarlett wrote something everyday. She is writing a speech bubble to add to the person she drew.
This is Cooper's independent writing about his trip to the park with his Mum and Dad.

Catalina is concentrating as she writes her story to share with others.

Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles!

This week our big book and poem are about bubbles. We are also looking at rhyming words. Today Alice, Charlise and Baylee started with the word look and made the words, book, hook, cook and took.

We are trying really hard to share what we are learning in Reading and Writing. Ask us!

Check out the pictures below of some Discovery Literacy activities happening in our classes.

Liam using our new tablets to practise letter formations.

Brodie writing his name.

Cooper and friends writing all the words they know. What words can you see?

Lockie using words around the room to help him write his prayer.
